planimetric map

http://www.loc.gov/rr/geogmap/guide/gmillgen.html

This is an example of a planimetric map because it shows only horizontal positions, without displaying elevation. If this map were to show both vertical and horizontal positions, for example, it would be classified as a topographic map. There are also no relief features located here. This map is conveying a Chinese city surrounded by a wall and the irrigation systems in place. I thought this was an interesting map to choose because of the history involved in it. It was drawn up by the Japanese in 1932, most likely prior to conducting military operations within the area.
